Black Enterprise

A couple of months ago we met Richard Spiropoulos at the International Franchise Expo in New York City.

We had the opportunity to tell him a little bit about ourselves and what we see for the future of the SoupMobile platform.

Yesterday, a friend sent us a text of the shot above while we were working an event, and to say we borderline "lost it" would do no justice.

There is a ton of hard work behind this picture that most do not get to see or experience but it is all worth it at moments such as this.

Black Enterprise has a base of more than 500,000 magazine subscribers and we have a two page spread............. sit back and let that marinate.

To us, this is a vision that we brought to reality, we did not just hope for and wish upon it.

We strategically planned, sacrificed and executed to put ourselves in position to jump on an opportunity such as this one.

Thank you to all of the friends and family that have supported us.

Building an empire takes a team, and you all are apart of that!

The cover is next!

Take Everything That Life Offers

FelixBaumgartnerRedBullStratosSkyDive.jpg

Take Everything That Life offers.

Now that I have your ATTENTION, this is for every person that wants to live the life they envision daily but encounter fear when it's time to take the first step.

No one knows what the answers to success are, but there are ways to figure it out. The first of many steps is to actually take the first step, it may be difficult because you are comfortable where you are now but believe it when I say once you get going the rest will fall into place.  People want to live a successful life but do not want to work for it. That is where entrepreneurship and the mindset of an entrepreneur comes into play. It’s the journey that every successful person encounters, the countless hours of hard work, lack of sleep, frustration, patience and FAILURES that will determine if you are cut out for this field.

When people think of a failure they tend to think of a college drop out that sits on their mother's couch getting high 24/7 without motivation to succeed.  When I think of success I also notice failure.  I have come to realize most people learn to fail their way to success.  In essence, there really shouldn't be any failures, only learning moments that then eventually turn into success.  Keep in mind it's ones journey to their goal that ultimately defines them and that is what most people don't understand. If you want to make something of yourself you’re going to have to go out and take risks. At times it may be a little scary to take risks especially when money is involved or you just lack courage, but you need to do whatever it takes.  Just think in the future if you never tried and how regretful your life may feel.....DON'T BE THAT PERSON!  As long as you are consistently doing something you love doors will open in your favor.  So before you take the leap of faith to pursue the entrepreneurial lifestyle you must first take this into consideration: you WILL fail a few times if not many times, there is no way around it. The only thing to do is to learn and move on from them.

Being afraid is an illusion you create in your mind before the act is done. For some reason we as human beings tend to second guess ourselves and think we can predict the outcome in these illusions we create. Whenever you're in a position where you feel overwhelmed, just think worse than failing is never knowing what the outcome might be. You will never know if your idea will work unless you go out and put in the effort.

As we grow more as individuals and find our own paths in this course of life we all face defining moments, it is what we do at those times that determine whether one is a success or not.  It is not about how much wealth one can accumulate or any of the other material items.  It's about how one grows into their own and enjoys taking that ride.

With all that said we have to take our obstacles into our own hands with no fear of the outcome.  Now you got two options which is either to embrace fear and use it as ammo for motivation or you can take the easy way out and look for the escape route to comfort,  its all up to YOU.

A Legend Solidified

images.jpeg

It was a privilege to be in attendance at this historical event.  The Los Angeles Lakers decided it was time to pay respects to one of their greats, Shaquille O’Neal.

A guy that I personally call a cousin, an uncle, a brother, a mentor, and much more.  Needless to say, those titles don’t even halfway describe the impact he has had on my life.  From a young age I was introduced to Shaquille (Big) and from that day, he took my family and I in as his own.  I remember meeting him like it was yesterday.  The Magic were on a road trip to play the Knicks and Nets and my father took my brother and I to a hotel room with Big and Penny, I remember hiding behind a couch for most of the time because they were so tall.  I can vividly recall him teaching me how to bob my head to the beat of music in his green Bentley on the way to The Forum, big cousin taxes at dinner (when he happens to stick his fork in your plate take your food and claiming he was taking big cousin taxes) him coming to my pop warner football game and the other team announcing him as their special guest (they paid for that) and me having to be put through the car window just to be able to speak to him for a couple minutes, and countless other memories that I will forever carry.

Moving forward, through the years, Big has protected me, kept me in line as well as put me in positions that most people do not get to experience and I cant thank him enough for all of that.  My life has been a true blessing thanks to the bond between him and my father.

Shaquille has had an outstanding career when you look at his timeline.  He made video games, movies, music, served his community, and dominated on the basketball court and he did most of that at the same time.  He has been able to influence many people through the way he carried himself.  His basketball career has been a platform for his growth as an individual and has opened many other opportunities for him in which he has always known how to find success.

The Lakers retiring his jersey was a huge moment….. I mean time and time again he breaks barriers but this is one of those occasions where you sit back, reflect, and realize what it was that he accomplished.  Arguably hands down the most dominate big man to ever play the game, and for that fact CHANGED the game.  The league hasn’t seen a player of his caliber in years and who knows how long it will be before that guy comes around.

The true conclusion to his legacy is almost solidified; maybe one more jersey hung in the rafters forever, and of course that Hall of Fame introduction…..just forward thinking.

The storyboard of his NBA career has been laid out for the world to take note.

Congrats Big Fella!

Angie Martinez & Bridget Kelly Help Out

IMG_1627.JPG

Bridget Kelly (@theycallmebk) and Angie Martinez (@angiemartinez) were a major help in the relief efforts with us in Coney Island during Sandy relief efforts.  They jumped onto the truck and dove straight into the serving.  No questions!  It was great to see how humble they were and how anxious they were to help the people that were in true need.

School & Rivals Release

NYC shot.jpg

Dreams

Since it's so cold outside, I want to reflect on a summer weekend to be remembered. Saturday Aug. 18 and Sunday Aug. 19 we got to watch dreams take another step toward their ultimate goals. We started off with the release of School & Rivals line “The Pledge” at Gramercy Room in NYC. There was such an amazing and diverse crowd full of people enjoying that moment with us, from friends and family to pure fans of the brand. From the bright lights of the show, to the music being spun by the DJ, and the confetti falling from the ceiling the night was a great success! We had C-Po jump on stage and do his thing with Mr. Marathon and like true veterans they displayed a great show. To cap the night was the great feedback from everyone on how they felt about the release. Needless to say School & Rivals made a statement with “The Pledge” showcase. Now onto Sunday.

We wake up in the heart of NY and the visual of the sun rising through the tunnels of NYC buildings was truly an inspirational sight.

When chasing your dreams, the times where you sit back and enjoy the moment are short but amazingly sweet.

So we are off to NJ, in somewhat of a recovery mode but still full of excitement from the previous night and what is to come. Our guy C-Po had a performance set up for Sunday night and it was only right to show the love and support that he has shown us. C-Po has a dream and to watch him put in the time and effort to make things go, to take steps forward goes hand in hand with our vision. I personally couldn’t help myself from making my way to the front of the crowd to be a part of this moment for a friend. The show went on for 2 hours straight! No breaks! No pauses! No errors! Just pure love and dedication to the music he was displaying. CO2 guns were going off, light sticks were creating a scene that I have only seen in movies, and the entire aura in the room was special. It was a perfect way to end the weekend and great to watch and be a part of another Dream.
